Horatio Alger Association
Design, Development, KioskIn a partnership with M1 Interactive, we built a kiosk for the Horatio Alger Association to be used at their events and to live in their lobby. The kiosk hardware was built by M1, while we handled the software. The kiosk features 3 screens, one main touchscreen display in the center with two small displays on the sides that display stats and quotes from HAA members.

Interactive map
The kiosk featured interactive maps of the United States and Canada that displayed the locations of HAA members, scholars, alumni, and “friends of distinction”. These maps are heavily modified versions of Mapbox, and all of the data for the points were imported via an API from HAA servers. Users could zoom in on each state to view people in that state and even filter by city. The map also features toggles for each group type.

Member / Scholar Directories
A primary component of the kiosk was the directory. It includes all of the members of the association, along with in-depth biographies and even videos. The directory can be filtered by award year, state, or industry, and also features a search using an on-screen keyboard. There is also a directory with the same features for scholars. As with the map, all of the data is pulled from an API, so it is always up-to-date.

Timeline & Demographics
Along with the map and directory, the kiosk also features information about the association itself. This includes an interactive timeline that goes through the history of the HHA. It is fully animated and even includes videos. There is also a screen dedicated to the demographics of both HAA members and scholars.
